The beginning
When Easyrain was founded in 2013, Giovanni Blandina had a simple goal: to save lives and reduce road fatalities due to aquaplaning. A heartfelt mission, not just a statement. With a simple yet brilliant idea: fighting water with water. Aquaplaning Intelligent Solution (AIS) was born.

Proof of Concept vehicle
From 2013 to 2018, Easyrain conducted research activities and developed a Proof-of-Concept vehicle based on Alfa Romeo 159, featuring a 450 kg AIS system tested and validated at the Pirelli Proving Ground in Vizzola Ticino.

Bosch-VHIT and Italdesign
Between 2018 and 2019, Easyrain started technical collaborations with Bosch-VHIT and Italdesign. Easyrain also opened its R&D center in Rivoli, Turin and raised a 5 million EUR funding backed by Indaco Venture Partners.

AIS Proto-A1
In 2020, Easyrain conducted the AIS Proto-A1 concept, hydraulic development and vehicle integration with Bosch-VHIT and Italdesign. This laid the foundation for the debut of the system in the beginning of 2021 with the validation track tests. The 40 kg AIS Proto-A1 was tested for the first time in a production series vehicle (specifically an Audi A6 Avant) offering a small package design and easy integration within the car.

DAI
During the summer of 2021, Easyrain launched the second product of its portfolio: Digital Aquaplaning Information (DAI). The DAI virtual sensor was designed to detect dangerous wet road situations and aquaplaning conditions, sending outputs to the vehicle depending on warning levels. The OEMs can use these outputs to introduce new vehicle safety features, for instance the automatic adjustment of adaptive cruise control speed and distance according to warning levels. The DAI virtual sensor has been developed to share real-time data of on-road conditions. In November 2021, Easyrain raised a further 5 million EUR funding backed by Indaco Venture Partners and Progress Tech Transfer investment fund.

AIS Proto-A2
The momentum continued during 2022 as Easyrain started the feasibility study for AIS Proto-A2 with long terms partners Bosch-VHIT and Italdesign. The AIS Proto-A2 is based on a different concept compared to the previous system. Using the water from the windshield washer tank, a high-pressure pump forces the water at 140 bars into one or two light-weight water accumulators. Differently to the Proto-A1, that had a 6 kW, the Proto-A2 pump has a power consumption of 0,18-0,31 kW. AIS Proto-A2 offers a huge improvement in terms of weight reduction, performance, modularity, ease of integration in the vehicle, and manufacturing compliance.

Easyrain Cloud & EDP platform
In 2022, Easyrain started the “Easyrain Cloud” to expand and enhance the analytics of the AIS and virtual sensors’ performance. Easyrain developed the EDP platform that includes brand new virtual sensors for detection of dangerous snow, ice, potholes, and gravel conditions.

First RFQ with major auto group
In July Easyrain received the first Request for Quotation (RFQ), as a result of a long innovation program with a leading automotive group. Easyrain is also actively working with a TIER-1 company for industrialization and the launch of our products.
